A 61-year-old Ellijay man is dead following a single vehicle crash on Aska Road Saturday, May 30.
Fannin County Coroner Becky Callihan said she pronounced Jerry Harper dead at the scene.
Trooper First Class Greer Huss of Georgia State Patrol Post 27 in Blue Ridge was dispatched to the scene of the crash near Campbell Camp Road at approximately 1:17 p.m.
Corporal William London of Post 27 said preliminary findings show a white pickup truck, driven by Harper, was traveling south on Aska Road when it crossed the centerline and traveled off the roadway approximately 100 feet. The truck came to an uncontrolled final rest after striking a tree with its front.
It is believed the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, London said.
A passenger in the truck was taken to Blue Ridge Medical Center with serious injuries.
