State Representative Johnny Chastain will join other Georgia legislators and head to Atlanta soon for a Special Session of the General Assembly.

Chastain said Sunday that Governor Brian Kemp has called for the session to work on the Voter Integrity bill and redistricting. The session will also include local legislation if any legislator presents theirs.

According to the governor’s proclamation, legislators will also be asked to ratify his executive order that suspended the state’s gas tax from May 20 through June 2. The Senate will be asked to consider and confirm various appointments Kemp has made since the adjournment of the regular session.Chastain said he expects the session, which begins June 17, to take seven to eight days, and is anticipated to include legislators working through the first weekend.
