says preparations are well underway for the 51st annual Miner’s Homecoming in Ducktown and encourages everyone to join in the fun.

Traditions get started Friday night, June 26, with Gospel Night hosted by Mine City Baptist Church at the W.R. Lee Stage. Music begins at 7 p.m. with the featured guests The Hayes Brothers.

The celebration gets into full swing Saturday, June 27, with the All You Can Eat breakfast at the Masonic Lodge on Highway 68 North. Adults can eat for $8 and kids for $6. 

Events following the breakfast include:

•9 a.m.; A kids bicycle decorating contest on Spruce Street. Participants can bring their own decorations or decorations will be provided;

•10 a.m.; The patriotic walking parade will make its way down Main Street;

•10:15 a.m.; Glenn Springs will welcome guests to its annual open house;

•11 a.m.; The Copper Company Workers Reunion will be held at Ducktown City Hall due to the renovations being made at the regular event location, the Hoise House;

•12 p.m. (noon); A Pet Pageant on the W.R. Lee stage;

•2 p.m.; The Miner’s Homecoming Pageant on the W.R. Lee Stage. Contact Celeste Sosebee at 423-241-3254 for information;

•2 p.m. until 5 p.m.; Music at The Brewery featuring Austin Walls;

•3 p.m. until 8 p.m.; Kids Alley, free to all ages;

•7 p.m.; Main Street Music, rock and country, featuring Haywire; and,

•9:30 p.m.; The fireworks show celebrating 250 years of independence.
