Summer is almost over for Fannin County School System students, and the traditional events that kick off the school year, plus a one-time opportunity begin Saturday. 

The fifth annual Back to School Bash will be held Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Coach Johnny Farmer Gymnasium on the Fannin County High School campus. 

The free event offers school supplies, haircuts, physicals, dental and vision services, immunizations, and other activities to get students ready for the school year. 

Next on the calendar is a ribbon cutting ceremony officially marking the opening of the new Athletic Complex at Fannin County High School Everyone is invited to the event Tuesday, July 28, at 2 p.m. for a first hand look at the new facilities. 

Students and parents should mark their calendars now for the following Friday, July 31, for the open house at each school. The events will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at all three elementary schools, the middle school and the high school.  

A special open house for the incoming ninth grade students at Fannin County High School will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. that same day. 

The first day for students will be Tuesday, August 4.
