“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my son. He also is become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:22).
Wind chimes hang on my front porch at my home. When the weather is tranquil and calm, no sound is heard. But you still know the chimes are hanging there in your mind. When a breeze comes up, it sets the chimes into motion. Tunes of a infinite variety begin wafting through the air. Light breezes produce gentle sounds with little movement. But when the wind begins to blow and gust, the sounds become louder and more pronounced.
Wind chimes can be a parable of life size proportion. Let the wind represent life and the wind chimes the presence of the Lord. Sometimes the wind hardly stirs; times of peacefulness. We sense the presence of God in the moments of peacefulness even though He may be silent to us. But when the winds begin to blow and howl, God makes us aware of his presence in the windy storm. He says, “Be of good cheer, it is I; be not afraid” (Matthew 14:27). That fear that was rousing us up, dies down at the sound of “heaven’s” wind chimes.
As wind chimes are to the wind, so the Lord is to those that trust in Him and listen. His repertoire of soul music is infinite, and His combination of notes from the differing length of the pipes meet are different needs in life. Let the winds blow for the sound of His reassuring voice is heard in little troubles, big troubles and in times of no trouble.
